Getting Started
Collaborating
Realms of Shod is built for groups. Invite your party, play together in real time, and let the platform keep up with the story.
There are two ways to bring someone into your realm:
Share code
Every realm has a short share code you can read aloud, drop in a chat, or paste anywhere. Anyone with the code can join. If you ever need to lock the door, you can rotate the code or deactivate it from realm settings — only the realm creator can do this.
Email invite
Send an invite directly to someone's email address. They'll receive a message with a link to join the realm. By default only the realm creator can send invites, but creators can allow all members to invite others from realm settings.
Realms support up to 8 members.
When a session is running, Realms of Shod connects your party over live video and audio directly in the browser — no third-party app required. Each member appears in their own tile, color-coded to match their realm identity.
Everyone can mute their microphone or turn off their camera independently at any time. Visual indicators show who is currently speaking, who is muted, and who has lost their connection. If a realm doesn't need video at all, the creator can disable it entirely from realm settings.
The gamestream keeps your whole party in sync beyond just video. When someone is typing a message into the gamestream input, the rest of the party sees a live typing indicator so everyone knows a response is on the way.
If your group plays over Discord, you can run Realms of Shod sessions without ever leaving the app. Everything flows into the same realm archive — transcripts, compendium entries, and session summaries all end up in the same place.
See the Discord integration guide for setup instructions and a full command reference.
