Realms Sandbox

Compendium

The Compendium is your realm's world database. Every entity, relationship, and piece of recorded lore lives here, growing with each session.

The Compendium displays all entities you have access to in the realm. Entities are shown in a grid and can be filtered by type using the type selector, narrowing the view to characters, locations, organizations, items, events, establishments, or miscellaneous records.

Press Cmd+F (or Ctrl+F on Windows) to open the search popup and find entities by name. The search popup also surfaces a quick option to create a new entity if no match is found.

New entities can be created at any time from the Compendium header. The creation form opens in a side panel and requires a name and type. Description, notes, and access settings are optional.

Name

The canonical name of the entity as it will appear in the Compendium and inline links.

Type

One of the 51 entity types across seven categories. The type determines how the entity is classified and filtered.

Description

A summary of the entity. Can be written manually or generated during extraction. Visible to any realm member with access to the entity.

Notes

Private notes visible only to the realm creator. Not shared with players under any access setting.

Access

Which realm members can see this entity. Defaults to the creator only. Can be expanded to specific players or the whole realm.

Create More

Enabling this keeps the creation form open after saving so multiple entities can be created in succession.

Open an entity to view its full record. The realm creator will see an edit button that opens the same form used during creation. Any field can be updated: name, type, description, notes, or access.

Entities can be deleted individually from the entity panel, or in bulk by selecting multiple entities and using the bulk action menu. Deletion is permanent and removes all associated variants and relationships.

Relationships connect two entities with a typed edge. They are displayed in the right panel of the entity view, grouped by category. Clicking a connected entity navigates directly to its record.

New relationships can be added from the entity panel by the realm creator. Select a target entity, choose a relationship type, and set access. Relationships created automatically during sessions also appear here and can be edited or removed.

For a full reference of available relationship types, see the Entities documentation.

Each entity and each relationship is independently access-controlled. The realm creator can see everything. Players only see what has been explicitly revealed to them.

Reveal to realm

Makes the entity visible to all current realm members in a single action. Available from the entity panel menu.

Reveal all relationships

Makes every relationship on the entity visible to all realm members. Useful after revealing a key character to fully expose their connections.

Per-player access

Individual entities and relationships can be shown to specific players without revealing them to the whole realm.

Reveal notifications

When a hidden entity is ready to be surfaced, the Gamelord receives a notification with a quick action to reveal it to session participants.

When the same entity exists under multiple records, they can be merged into one. Select the entities to merge, designate which one survives, and choose whether to consolidate notes, relationships, and access.

All variants and transcript references are updated automatically. For a full explanation of how merging works, see the Entities documentation.

Export

Download your compendium as a JSON file. Exports include entity names, types, descriptions, and optionally their relationships, notes, and access lists. The file can be used as a backup or imported into another realm.

Import

Upload a previously exported JSON file to populate the compendium with entities and relationships. The platform auto-detects the format version and creates all records from the file.

For detailed format documentation and field reference, see Import / Export.
